I began studying yoga, mindfulness meditation and transcendental meditation as a freshman in college in order to manage my stress and performance anxiety. I quickly discovered that these practices also helped me to sleep more soundly, and they increased both my concentration and stamina. The biggest reward was, and continues to be, that I leave each yoga session feeling healthy, strong, and almost giddy. Yes, endorphins (the “happiness hormone”) are definitely increased by practicing yoga!
I have had the privilege of studying numerous styles of yoga over the years, and I became a certified yoga instructor in 2002 at the American Yoga Academy. I have also studied yoga instruction at the Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, Massachusetts. I now teach an integrative style of Hatha-Kripalu yoga, which is based on meditation in movement, breath and flow.
I am currently teaching yoga at the Southwest YMCA in Saratoga, CA.
